PlayPosit no longer has a price list of its own: its old pricing address now redirects to the WeVideo pricing page, where interactive video is sold inside WeVideo education plans, from the Instructor plan at $384 per year for 30 seats to quote only Organization and School or District licenses. This guide explains how those plans work, what happened to legacy PlayPosit accounts, and what a university should ask before buying or renewing.
WeVideo announced its acquisition of PlayPosit in an August 2022 press release, describing PlayPosit's interactive layers (hot spots, overlays, multi version questions, peer review) as a way to add assessment and engagement to WeVideo's video creation tools. A PlayPosit knowledge base article later confirmed that the plan was to strengthen PlayPosit rather than phase it out, built on a single code base.
The product is now branded WeVideo Interactivity. WeVideo's support article FAQs about migrating PlayPosit accounts explains that interactive videos (still called bulbs), classes, rosters and grades move into WeVideo, and that learners signing in at playposit.com are redirected to wevideo.com. Universities have been moving their integrations through 2026; as a supplementary second source, the University of Colorado Boulder OIT page records its move to WeVideo in May 2026.
The WeVideo pricing page groups plans under Education and under Individuals and Small Businesses. The education plans that matter for interactive video are:
Billed annually for a 30 seat account with 5 GB of storage per seat and standard HD export. The plan lists an interactive video designer, ready made projects, real time analytics and unlimited stock media, and offers a free trial. That works out to about $12.80 per seat per year by simple division.
For accounts with more than 30 licenses. The page directs buyers to talk to sales or book a demo and describes the plan as scaling active learning across classrooms and campuses. No price is shown.
Described as WeVideo's premiere product for educators using interactive video, sold as a 30 seat account with 5 GB per seat and a 30 day free trial.
Classroom scaled for whole school or district rollout. The page offers an automatically generated quote above 30 seats and asks buyers with 1,000 or more seats to contact sales.
A Single Teacher plan at $89 per year also appears, but it requires a valid K12 educator email and is aimed at individual teachers making instructional videos, so it is rarely relevant to a university.
In short, a single instructor or small team can buy online, while a department or campus will be in quote territory. The WeVideo higher education page also has no prices and routes institutions to a demo.
WeVideo's pricing FAQ names Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology and Blackboard among supported LMSs, and the higher education page refers to LTI integration with dozens of learning management systems and video hosts. The plan comparison table, however, notes LMS LTI integrations as available for an additional fee on some plans. For a university, the integration is usually the point: grades returning to the gradebook and students launching from the course. Confirm in writing whether your quote includes the LTI 1.3 integration for your LMS and whether there is a separate fee for it.
WeVideo's migration FAQ is the only vendor source that documents the legacy transition, and it covers timing rather than prices:
WeVideo does not publish what legacy institutional PlayPosit contracts convert to. If your university had a PlayPosit agreement, ask your account team directly how its terms map onto WeVideo licensing at renewal.
WeVideo's strength is the combination of a full video editor with an interactive question layer, so a team that needs to create and edit video and check viewing in one tool may find the bundle a good fit. Annoto does not create or edit video, and our Annoto vs PlayPosit comparison suggests pricing editing tools separately if you need them. Annoto concentrates on engagement: in video quizzes, time stamped discussion, video assignments with peer review and per student analytics. It can host video itself or run as a layer over the video platform you already use. Licensing is a flat annual institution license per FTE or a department or program license, with a free one semester pilot that needs no contract and a switching credit for time left on a competitor contract; see the Annoto pricing page. For a feature view, our Edpuzzle vs PlayPosit comparison and our interactive video learning platforms guide cover the wider field.
No. Interactive video is sold within WeVideo plans, and the PlayPosit pricing link now goes to WeVideo's pricing page.
WeVideo publishes $384 per year for a 30 seat Instructor plan. Larger accounts move to quoted Organization or School or District pricing.
Yes. The Instructor plan offers a free trial and the Classroom plan offers 30 days free.
According to WeVideo, bulbs, classes, rosters and grades migrate to WeVideo, and links for assignments that require a login redirect. Assignments shared without a login need new links.
