Teaching assistants follow the course from the dashboard and split the unread queue in the Course Hub. Questions are answered in public at the time-tag, so every learner who reaches that minute later meets the answer. Managed Q&A mode lets the team publish the useful questions and reply privately to the rest.
Learners follow the week's video, reply to each other from the Feed, and mention a classmate when a thread needs their view. The instructor reads the Everyone view before class, gives Thumbs Up to the strongest contributions, and opens the session from the thread with the most replies.
An instructor reviewing a learner's practice video answers the public questions in the thread and uses one-to-one chat for the feedback that should stay private. Presence in People Space shows when a learner is online, so a quick exchange can happen while they are still in the video.
Compliance and product communities often need approval before a comment goes public; managed comments handle that without slowing the feed. On Kaltura webcasts the discussion started during a live session carries on in the recording, still in sync with the video, and followers keep getting notified.

The default is quiet: nobody receives email until they follow something, and disabling notifications in preferences switches off every email for every video. That makes it safe to encourage following early in the term, when a single reply arriving in a learner's feed is often what brings them back to the video.
Every comment and reply that flows through the feed is counted. The course and video views report collaboration, the number of comments and replies, and the participation radial shows what share of learners collaborated. The Users Activity table adds replies and Thumbs Up badges per learner, which the dashboard guidance suggests using as evidence of knowledge sharing and, if you choose, as extra credit.
Two views make the feed's effect visible over time. Activity Trends shows how a burst of comments lifts engagement in the days that follow, as learners return to read replies and click time-tags. The interactive timeline under each video shows where the discussion concentrated, which is often where the content was hardest.
For triage, the Course Hub sorts videos by unread comments and shows unread counts in red, the Video View highlights comments you have not reviewed, and a video's comments export as a spreadsheet or document with their time-tags. Everything here is sample data.
